Air New Zealand announces plans to introduce new uniforms

Air New Zealand, New Zealand’s national airline, has announced intentions to deploy new uniforms for its staff in 2025. The new uniforms will be designed to be more environmentally friendly and comfortable for the airline’s employees.

The airline’s uniform for all customer-facing personnel will be updated, with the bright koru prints of Trelise Cooper’s 2011 uniform set to be discarded in 2025. With attendants, pilots, and ground crew all getting new uniforms, it’s a big change for the 5000 Air New Zealand employees.

Air New Zealand has also incorporated textile recycling into the design brief, with the team also investigating end-of-life options for the present uniform to divert waste from landfill.

Dame Trelise Cooper designed the current crew outfits for Air New Zealand, which debuted in 2011. The design has become iconic through time, but Geraghty believes it is time for a change.

Leanne Geraghty, Air New Zealand’s chief customer and sales officer, stated:

“After 12 years of using our current designs, it’s time to revisit and refresh our uniforms to ensure they’re still a perfect fit for our people and align with our recently announced future cabin experience.”

“The Air New Zealand uniform, like our Koru, is one of our most important brand assets and is recognized around the world.” It is frequently the first visual depiction of New Zealand that visitors to our nation see, and it inspires enormous pride in our people and New Zealanders. It is critical that we continue to ensure that our uniform appropriately represents our company, our workers, and our country.

“Most importantly, we will work to ensure that the uniform reflects the diverse needs of our people.” Since our previous uniform update in 2011, a lot has changed, and we want to make sure they continue to fulfill the demands of our teams.”
